Wheat Tableware Brings Environmental Protection to Multiple Overseas Scenes

The meal box made from wheat waste does not soften when storing hot food, and can naturally degrade after disposal, which is in line with our environmental protection needs! “At a chain light food restaurant in London, consumer Sofia praised the newly used wheat fiber meal box. Nowadays, with the advantages of environmentally friendly raw materials and convenient use, wheat tableware is rapidly rising in overseas markets, becoming a popular choice to replace plastic tableware in catering, home, outdoor and other scenarios. In the catering industry, overseas chain brands have become the main force for promotion. McDonald’s Europe announced this year that more than 2300 stores in 10 countries, including France, Germany, and Italy, will fully use wheat fiber meal boxes and plates. These tableware are made from straw and bran produced by local wheat processing, with a heat resistance temperature of 110 ℃, which can meet the hot food storage needs of stores. The daily plastic consumption of a single store is reduced by more than 40 kilograms. According to brand data, since the implementation of this measure six months ago, the proportion of “environmentally friendly” consumer evaluations of related stores has increased by 27%. The American fast food brand Taco Bell is piloting wheat fiber cup lids in over 800 stores across the United States, paired with biodegradable straws. The lids can completely degrade in the natural environment within 3 months of use. Currently, the consumer acceptance rate of the pilot stores has reached 89%, and the plan is to achieve nationwide store coverage next year.

In the household consumption market, wheat tableware has become a healthy and environmentally friendly choice. In Japan, the sales of wheat tableware categories on e-commerce platforms Lotte and Amazon continue to rise, with children’s tableware accounting for over 50%. The wheat fiber food bowl launched by a certain Japanese brand has been certified by the Japan Food Hygiene Association as odorless, drop resistant, and heat-resistant. Its monthly sales have exceeded 80000 pieces, and many parents have commented that it “gives their children peace of mind when using it and also cultivates environmental protection concepts from an early age”. In South Korea, wheat based fresh-keeping boxes and plates have also become a new favorite for home storage. Their biodegradable properties solve the problem of traditional plastic tableware being difficult to handle after use. Some products have also been recommended as items by Korean home magazines due to their simple design.

Outdoor scenes, wheat tableware has become a must-have for camping. In Germany, the wheat fiber camping tableware set launched by outdoor goods chain brand Decathlon, including dinner plates, bowls, spoons, etc., is light in weight, easy to carry, and biodegradable. The sales volume in the first month of listing exceeded 30000 sets. Many camping enthusiasts say that camping with eco-friendly tableware not only allows them to enjoy nature, but also leaves no environmental burden. Industry insiders point out that with the continuous promotion of the global “plastic ban” policy, wheat tableware is expected to usher in greater development space in overseas markets with the advantages of easy availability of raw materials and adaptability to multiple scenarios.
